Clinical Multidisciplinary Hematology & Oncology is an annual review course providing a comprehensive update and management strategies for key hematologic and oncologic diseases.  Renowned guest and Mayo Clinic faculty will provide best practices and new data for physicians and the entire healthcare team. Topics include myeloma, lymphoid neoplasms, advances in precision medicine, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers, melanoma, breast cancer, gynecologic oncology, and lung cancer.  Continuing education credit will be offered for physicians, nurses and pharmacists.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists and nurses interested in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.  Hospitalists, family medicine, general internists or other healthcare professionals may benefit from this program.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize data utilizing combination and cellular therapy approaches for the treatment of relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma.
  • Describe new therapies introduced for the treatment of amyloidosis in the past 36 months.
  • Examine the role and impact of “prehab” in oncology.
  • Review the role of chemotherapy in urothelial cancer.
  • Formulate tailored treatment strategies for MPN patients that take into account clinically relevant patient issues and optimize pharmacologic interventions.
  • Recognize new developments in the long-term management of patients with immune mediated TTP.
  • Identify approaches to front line therapy for relapse and refractory CLL patients. 
  • Examine the misalignment between reimbursement and socially optimal treatment.
  • Recognize the role of uncertainty in pharmaceutical pricing and possible policy responses.
  • Describe first line therapy options for recurrent/metastatic head and neck carcinoma.
  • Choose the most appropriate adjuvant anti-HER2 therapy in patients who received neoadjuvant anti-HER2 therapy.
  • Summarize emerging molecular biological insights that may guide therapy for triple-negative breast cancer.
  • Select the most appropriate front line treatment plan for metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lung.
  • Determine when to use prophylactic cranial irradiation in small cell lung cancer.

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa has reserved a block of rooms for course participants and guests at a special group rate of $325 USD, per room, per night, single or double occupancy, plus applicable state and local taxes. Group rates will apply three days prior to and three days after the course dates, based on group room availability. 

Children under the age of 17 staying in an adult’s room will stay complimentary.  Third or fourth adult person rates are $50 each. Bell and housekeeping service staff gratuities will be at the individual guest’s discretion. Guest room internet is included in the group rate.

When making a reservation, identify yourself as a participant of the “Mayo Clinic Hematology and Oncology” course.  Reservation requests received after 5:00 p.m. local time on January 7 will be accepted at the group rate based on group room block availability. Check-in time is 4:00 p.m.; check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Resort Fee:
Guests may “opt in” or “opt out” of the daily resort services fee, a reduced rate of $25 per room, per night, plus taxes which includes local and long distance domestic and toll-free guest room calls, access to Agave Spa, Yoga and Well Walk fitness classes, shuttle service on a schedule to Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter for individual use, and tennis course and equipment rental. If guests elect to “opt out” all services and amenities will be available at a la carte pricing.

Attendees are responsible for their own reservations.
