As the largest integrated transplant provider in the nation, the Mayo Clinic Transplant Centers receive numerous requests each year from other organizations to learn more about our programs and practices. This comprehensive course shares Mayo Clinic experiences, expertise, and unique multidisciplinary approach to delivering the most individualized care for every patient. It provides healthcare professionals with an in-depth understanding of the benefits and challenges of using donation after cardiac death (DCD) grafts in the field of liver transplantation. Participants explore the intricate interplay between hepatology, transplant surgery, procurement, and advanced endoscopy. Participants gain expertise in the procurement of DCD livers, financial challenges as they relate to this organ pool, and post-transplant care of recipients of DCD liver transplant. This course combines didactic lectures, hands-on workshops, and case discussions to ensure participants develop a well-rounded understanding of this rapidly expanding donor pool.
